Once

by Robin Fulton Macpherson

Big  pond or small loch,
higher than the road,
unseen from the road.
Once, seven decades
ago, I saw it.

Wide water-lilies.
Metal dragonflies.
Peat water seething.
Bog-myrtle lungfulls.
Long-distance curlews.
