Permitted Daily Exercise 2
by Paula Jennings
This is a beach of fragments
and here is a tiny piece of china,
an almost perfect square
with a pink line along the lower edge
like womanly bedrock. Comfort.
Above it, a dark blue arrow flies out
from shadow, left to right.
I crouch on slippery stones,
trying to decipher broken runes.
